Last year's "Christmas in July" Craft Fair helped raise money for hundreds of children's Christmas gifts; this year Seniors in Need will also benefit.

The “Christmas in July” Craft Fair, a fundraiser and shopping opportunity presented by the Fallon Lights of Christmas, is Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Fallon Convention Center.

The fair will feature a variety of craft and commercial vendors, food and entertainment. Organizers say they have 34 vendors so far and more are welcome. Entertainment includes a dunk tank, artists, other children’s activities and more. Edible treats include salads, sandwiches, popcorn, ice cream and other desserts.

“The main thing is we want everyone to come out and buy,” said Geneva Durant with a laugh.

Durant is one of the organizers of the not-for-profit events. She said there’s going to be a wide range of items for sale, a broad assortment for convenient local shopping while having a good time.

The organizers host the fair and a special tree auction in December to raise money for Toys for Tots and this year, Seniors in Need. In years past, hundreds of children have benefitted from the group’s purchase of toys for children in numerous counties. This year, through Seniors in Need, the organizers aim to give seniors gifts of lap covers as well as wheelchair and walker bags.

“Just something we do to help,” Durant said of the fair.

Durant added to save the date for the annual Fallon Lights of Christmas decorated-tree auction December 2 this year.

“It’s fun; we enjoy it,” she said of small group of organizers. “We just work like crazy.”

Proceeds from fair booth rental support Toys for Tots and Seniors in Need. Those interested in selling can call Durant at 775-276-0421 or Essie Burriss at 775-315-6571.

“We’re always looking for volunteers,” Burriss added.
