UNR offers profession development short courses

Professional development short courses and management certificates offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno provide university-quality educational opportunities.

These courses are designed to build your career and skills in a wide range of management and business topics, to keep on the leading edge of the latest trends and industry-specific issues and to hone existing talents for career advancement. The noncredit courses are open to all adults, may be taken independently and require no formal admission to the University. Most courses are offered at the University’s Redfield Campus, 18600 Wedge Parkway in south Reno unless noted otherwise.

Select courses have been approved for HR or business credit hours toward PHR, SPHR or GPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). Extended Studies at the University is also recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to offer professional development credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM credential. “Bringing Out the Best of a Multigenerational Workforce” — This two-session management course addresses challenges and provides skills to manage issues within different generational age groups in the workplace, including communication disconnects, disagreements on performance expectations, and collaboration within teams, offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno.

“Managing and Supervising People” – This two-session supervisory management course uses self-assessment exercises, role playing and simulations to help you learn and practice behaviors integral to building high-performing work groups, offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno. ONLINE! “Beginning Photoshop” – This four-session online professional development course developed by Extended Studies in partnership with photographer/graphic designer M.D. Welch, equips users with hands-on practice in Adobe Photoshop, including basic interface infrastructure, working with single and multiple images, image composition and photo retouching for those who have little or no experience, offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno.
