This year’s crowd of Greenwave fans await the crowning of the 2014 king and queen at midfield tonight as homecoming activities begin to wind down for Churchill County High School.

Traditionally, the candidates include three couples from the senior class and one each from the freshmen, sophomore and junior classes

Seniors vying for this year’s tiara include Sarah Arthur, Allyson Hernandez and Tabetha Peck.

Arthur, daughter of Christopher and Kimberly Arthur, considers herself a seasoned world traveler, having visited seven countries. Her talents range from computer design to martial arts.

“I’ve created my own website, and I am currently a green belt in Tae Kwon Do,” she said.

After high school, Arthur’s plans call for her to travel more, especially in Europe. She would also like to attend the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Hernandez is the daughter of Steve and Peggy Hernandez. The Fallon senior said her main goal this year is to maintain good grades and become an intern for a local business. As for post high school, Hernandez said she would like to attend the University of Nevada, Reno.

Park, a Greenwave golfer who has been at a tournament this week, is earning money during her senior year to travel to Japan.

Her plans after high school include attending a university to major in theater and fine arts.

The senior boys seeking the lofty king’s crown are Jeff Evett, Nathan Heck and Najeee Stanford.

Evett, son of Gary and Lisa Evett, is a member of the varsity basketball team and National Honor Society. His plans after graduation include serving a mission for his church.

Heck is the son of Steve and Angela Heck. During his junior year, Heck earned the Lahontan Valley News Athlete of the Year award, and he is a school record holder in pole vaulting. Heck also plays on the Greenwave football team

He plans to attend college, seeking a major in sports medicine and minor in nutrition. He would also like to compete in track and field.

Stanford is the son of Derrick and Debby Stanford. He is a member of the Greenwave football team.

Future plans include joining the U.S. Air Force and later opening his own “cooking restaurant.” By achieving his goals, Stanford said he wants to inspire others.

The juniors are Cameron Beyer and Nichole Mariezcurrena. Beyer takes pride in knowing he has played on successful football teams from the Fallon Youth Football League to high school. Mariezcurrena, daughter of Augie and Danielle Mariezcurrena, has been in Student Council for three years and has competed in high school softball and cross country. She also qualified for state in archery.

Jack Swisher and Paola Duenas are the sophomore royalty candidates. Swisher, son of John and Debbie Swisher, enjoys varsity wresting and baseball. Duenas, daughter of Francisco and Georgina Duenas, is a member of Student Council.

Freshmen Dawson Frost and Jordan Beyer are experiencing homecoming first-hand this year. Frost is a member of Student Council, Pep Club and HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Beyer, daughter of Kent and Jessica Beyer, is an accomplished downhill skier and has received accolades in her sport while competing at Squaw Valley.
