For the Nevada Appeal
Melanie Gingell/For the Nevada Appeal Melanie Gingell is a senior at Carson High School. For her senior project she decided to explore photography. This photo was taken at Newport, Calif.

My senior project is on photography. The main focus revolves around careers in photojournalism and commercial photography.

To learn more about this I spent many hours taking photos and job shadowing Cathleen Allison, chief photographer for the Nevada Appeal.

Following Allison, I discovered that photojournalism can be difficult, and tiring, but also fun and challenging.

The nature of my project was very interesting to me, and I enjoyed completing it. I also plan on broadening my knowledge in the field during college, and look for possible job opportunities.

I believe my senior project has been an educational experience, which will help me in the future.
