Lewis H. Brazzanovich

A funeral for Lewis H. Brazzanovich, 86, a Carson City resident since 1977, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. A graveside service with military honors will follow the funeral at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Mr. Brazzanovich died April 1, 2007, in Reno. He was born Feb. 17, 1921, at Mono Lake, Calif., to Nickolas and Emma Brazzanovich.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Brazzanovich lived in Reno.

At the time of his death, Mr. Brazzanovich was the oldest living elder of the Bridgeport Paiute Tribe.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He enjoyed rebuilding classic and antique cars, western music, gardening and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Brazzanovich, in 2001; brothers Raymond and Ernie Brazzanovich, and sisters Eunice Hunter and Elsie Brazzanovich.

Among his survivors are sons Dennis Brazzanovich of Reno, and Ed and Gene Brazzanovich of Jacks Valley; sons and daughters-in-law Leonard and Sharon Brazzanovich of Reno, and Doug and Amelia Brazzanovich of Hungry Valley; daughter Shirley Martinez of Seattle; daughters and sons-in-law Nora and Lee Perks of Washoe Valley and Sheri Brazzanovich and her husband Dez of Wadsworth; and sister and brother-in-law Florine and Manny Munoz of El Paso, Texas.

Walton’s Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
