2 bodies found in burned Reno home
RENO (AP) – Police say two people found dead in a home that burned in Reno had heavily fortified the house that was in foreclosure, apparently in anticipation that sheriff’s deputies would be coming to evict them.
The deputies showed up Tuesday morning but heard gunshots when they announced themselves, noticed the house was on fire and took cover.
The victims are believed to be an 83-year-old woman and her 46-year-old son who lived for decades in the house that was sold at auction earlier this month.
The bodies were removed from the rubble Wednesday.
Authorities don’t yet know the cause of death.
Police Lt. Robert Nuttall says no weapons were found. He says the windows had been boarded up and the front door barricaded with cases of ceramic tiles.
