2009 Year in Review: V&T celebrates inaugural season of sold-out train runs
Although the V&T Railway has stirred controversy throughout the community for years, no one can dispute the success of its inaugural season. All trains were sold out.
Operation of the train between Virginia City and the depot just east of Carson City proved to be a successful tourist attraction for the 2009 season, with every seat filled.
Although a portion of Carson City sales tax is dedicated to bond payments for the railway construction, the V&T Commission is looking at other options for future operations, such as billing the benefiting counties.
