33-year-old dies after California police use Taser
Tulare, Calif. – Tulare police say a 33-year-old man has died after an officer used a Taser to subdue him outside a motel.
Police say Roberto Olivo charged at an officer and resisted arrest Thursday. Officers were called to the Virginia Motor Lodge in Tulare after complaints a man was banging on doors and screaming. Olivo had been staying at the motel for two nights.
Police say Olivo appeared to be under the influence of drugs. He was handcuffed and awaiting an ambulance when his eyes rolled back and his breathing became labored. He was pronounced dead at Tulare Regional Medical Center.
The coroner’s office is investigating the death.
