5 charged with stealing fee payments from park
SILVER SPRINGS (AP) – The Lyon County sheriff’s office says five people have been arrested for allegedly taking fees paid by visitors at Lahontan Reservoir, a state park east of Carson City.
Deputies say surveillance footage from late May led to the arrests of 25-year-old Megan Kendall and 24-year-old Christopher School of Dayton.
In another incident June 25, authorities say three suspects tried to remove fee envelopes from a tube that was set in concrete. When their attempts failed, they rammed the tube with a truck and hauled it away.
That incident also was captured on surveillance video. Two Silver Springs men, 33-year-old James Berhorst and 26-year-old Frank Willis, were arrested.
Also arrested was 33-year-old Brian Bryant, described by deputies as a transient.
