76-year-old California man arrested in wife’s death
FRESNO, Calif. – Authorities say they have arrested a 76-year-old Fresno man on suspicion of beating his wife to death.
Fresno police say Charles Salazar confessed to a neighbor Friday that he had killed his wife. The neighbor found the 53-year-old woman on a couch in the couple’s home with severe head trauma and called police.
The discovery took place a day after Salazar reported a break-in at his home. At the time, he told police he had made up the story because his wife had left home.
Salazar’s wife, who returned home, told authorities that her husband suffered from dementia.
The couple had been married about 10 years.
It is the 10th homicide in Fresno this year.
