Accident backs up traffic

Photo by Brian CorleyA Chrysler LeBaron is disabled after it collided with an Isuzu Rodeo at Fith Street and Saliman late Thursday morning. Despite the heavy damage to both vehicles there wre only minor injuries.

There were no injuries in a late morning accident at Fifth Street and Saliman Road that backed up traffic for about 40 minutes Thursday.

A vehicle driven by Victoria Ruiz of Carson City, carrying four young children, was make a left turn from Fifth Street onto Saliman when she turned in the path of an eastbound Isuzu Trooper driven by Katherine Lawrence, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Department.

Lawrence also had a child in her vehicle.

Ruiz was cited for no driver’s license, turning at an intersection, no proof of insurance and no child restraints.
