Annual Range Camp applications open
The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is accepting applications for the 50th annual Nevada Youth Range Camp.
The camp is a weeklong program during which high school students learn about Nevada’s desert and mountain rangelands. It is conducted by the extension along with professionals from several state and federal agencies. Campers will learn about the ecology of the Great Basin, basic surveying and map reading, identification and importance of different range plants, wildlife surveying, stream health and other topics. Also on the agenda are swimming, fishing, hiking, volleyball and photography.
Interested students must submit an application with a letter of recommendation from an adult other than a parent or relative. The cost is $150, which includes meals and camp activities.
