An inactive methamphetamine lab was busted Friday after an anonymous tip to the Carson City Sheriff’s Meth Hotline.

According to Sheriff Kenny Furlong, the department’s Special Enforcement Team went to the Diamond Street address on Friday about 9 p.m. and discovered the dismantled lab, allegedly used as recently as last week.

“Michael Coyner was found to be in possession of the lab and had recently attempted to manufacture methamphetamine in his parents’ garage using the equipment and chemicals that he had collected,” said Deputy Bill Abbott, SET leader.

Coyner is being held in the Carson City jail on suspicion of manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $40,000.

This is the second time a Meth Hotline tip has lead to an arrest. In January a report of heavy foot traffic at a Carson Street address lead to the arrest of a man on possession charges.

“This is a prime example of the community using available resources to combat the methamphetamine issues that face each of us every day,” Abbott said.

Anyone with information regarding illegal drug activity can call 887-2020 extension METH, (6384). Any person can leave the information and remain completely anonymous or they can leave their information and request someone call them back.
