Another moderate quake strikes Reno, 38 miles NW of Carson
RENO — The Reno area continues to shake as another moderate earthquake struck the region this morning.
The 4.2 magnitude earthquake was reported a 4:33 a.m. today and was followed by at least a dozen aftershocks, according to the University of Nevada, Reno, Seismology Laboratory.
It’s the latest in a two-month swarm of earthquakes that started in February.
Scientists say the events are unusual because they are getting stronger, instead of weaker.
The strongest temblor so far was Friday night, when a 4.7 earthquake dumped cans off shelves, knocked pictures off walls and pushed rocks off hillsides along the Sierra Nevada.
No injuries were reported.
