Auditions this month for Sierra chorale
Winter weather may be in the air and the holiday music just back in storage, but the Sierra Nevada Master Chorale is already looking ahead to its annual spring concert, set for May 30, at Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.
This is the month chorale Artistic and Musical Director Richard Lee auditions new voices to join the 80-member volunteer singing ensemble. Trained and untrained male and female singers are invited to audition to join the group and learn about music and sing a variety of musical selections.
Auditions may be scheduled with Lee by calling 786-4417 or via the chorale’s message line at 333-9224, no later than mid-February.
It has been said the musical education at the hands of conductor Lee alone is worth the membership dues.
The chorale hosts two major concerts annually at Pioneer Center: a spring concert, scheduled for May 30; and a winter holiday show in December. Additional concerts are set throughout the year, including July Artown.
In its 24th year of continuous musical contributions to Northern Nevada, the Sierra Nevada Master Chorale has appeared twice at Carnegie Hall, represented the state at the 1985 presidential inauguration parade, and been featured on national television.
