Bear release above Carson Valley

Orca, a Karelian Bear Dog, chases a roughly 150 lb. 2-year-old male black bear Saturday morning during a NDOW release off of Kingsbury Grade above the Carson Valley. The bear was trapped in the Galena area of Reno and processed, tagged, tattooed and chipped in Minden Friday afternoon. For people in bear sensitive areas, NDOW Bear-Human Conflict Specialist Heather Reich suggests not feeding pets on back porches, making sure garbage is secure either inside or in bear proof containers, and using electricity around anything that may attract bears like bee hives.
