Larry Bettis says he will run for Assembly District 21, the seat now held by Sandra Tiffany.

Bettis, a Democrat, is a deputy city attorney in Las Vegas. Before that, he lived in Hawthorne and served four terms as Mineral County District Attorney after working as a clerk at the Nevada Supreme Court and for the Legislative Counsel Bureau.

Bettis has lived in Green Valley for 10 years and is active in community and church activities. He is currently a member of the Nevada Juvenile Justice Commission.

Tiffany has not formally announced but is expected to run for what would be her fifth term of office.

Assembly District 21 includes Green Valley in Henderson. According to February figures released by the Nevada Secretary of State’s office, it has 40,800 voters including 3,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats. But the swing vote, as in many Nevada legislative districts, is with the more than 6,000 non-partisan voters.
