Bryan receives Friend of the National Parks award
WASHINGTON – Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev., is being honored today as a “Friend of the National Parks” for his voting record on behalf of conservation and the national park system.
The award was created as an ongoing honor for those members of Congress who support the parks system. While those who vote correctly 60 percent of the time or more are eligible, Bryan’s voting record on national park issues is a perfect 100 percent.
“Our national parks rely on Congress for protection under law and for adequate funding,” said National Parks and Conservation Association President Thomas Kiernan. “This award is given to our Congressional representatives like Senator Bryan who have stood up for the places that symbolize America’s history and its natural wonder.”
Bryan said the park system is “one of our nation’s true crown jewels and is the envy of the rest of the world.”
