Bryan will support open space

Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev., says he’ll support legislation aimed at protecting open space and redeveloping urban “brownfield” sites.

The Community Open Space Bonds Act would authorize up to $1.9 billion over five years in bonding to buy open space, preserve water quality, improve access to public lands and clean up and redevelop so-called “brownfield” sites, areas of contamination particularly in urban zones.

The interest free financing would be offered to state and local governments as well as tribal governments, creating tax credit bonds those governments could use on those types of projects.
