Carson City hospital foundation receives $10,000 grant

Carson Tahoe Health Foundation

Campagni Auto Group sponsoring HopeFest6

HopeFest6 will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, 1535 Medical Parkway in Carson City.

All proceeds from food, drink and raffle ticket sales directly benefit local cancer patients, providing support for basic needs that go beyond the hospital walls.

Guests interested in attending and supporting can simply show up at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center and buy food, drinks, raffle tickets, and tribute flags.

The Dick Campagni Auto Group once again will be offering a raffle winner the choice of a new car — a 2016 Toyota Corolla or a 2016 Ford Focus — or $10,000 cash.

“The amazing generosity of the Campagni Auto Group, and all of our HopeFest6 sponsors allows for 100 percent of the event proceeds to directly benefit local cancer patients in need,” said Kitty McKay, foundation director at Carson Tahoe Health.

The Campagni Auto Group, through its generosity for 9 years, has allowed the CTH Foundation to raise more than $300,000 in support of local cancer patients.

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation received a $10,000 grant from the Safeway Foundation.

The Carson Tahoe Cancer Center offers free classes on complementary therapies for cancer patients to assist them in coping with the side effects of cancer treatment. In 2015, nearly 1,600 complementary therapy sessions, including yoga, massage, art therapy and other modalities were offered at no cost to cancer patients in order to promote healing and ease the daily life challenges encountered by those undergoing treatment. The Safeway Foundation grant will help underwrite these offerings that greatly improve the quality of life for patients, which cost the Cancer Center over $60,000 a year.

“This generous support funding from the Safeway Foundation will provide hope and healing for hundreds of cancer patients throughout Northern Nevada and

California,” said Kitty McKay, Foundation Director at Carson Tahoe Health. “We are so grateful for their ongoing commitment and support of our community, which totals $150,000 over the years.”

The news of this grant funding comes just a few weeks before Carson Tahoe’s annual HopeFest6, a free outdoor concert with headliners, “The Waybacks”.
