The Carson City Sheriff’s Office along with other agencies throughout Nevada, regularly participates in Joining Forces. During these times, additional deputies are put out on the street looking for intoxicated or impaired drivers.

The days and hours deputies work are not limited to night time and weekends. Recently, individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of being under the influence while operating a motor vehicle. These arrests were made during the weekday and during daytime hours.

Nevada being a 24/7 state means the possibility exists someone is operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated or impaired at any given time. Not everyone works normal hours, so this in turn leads to many individuals visiting drinking establishments or using illicit drugs at all hours of the day and night.

Driving while impaired is not exclusive to alcohol use. It may also include prescription medications, marijuana or other narcotic use while driving.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping the public safe, said Sgt. Scott McDaniel. He urged motorists to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
