Carson City teenagers arrested following fight

Two Carson City teenagers were treated for head injuries Tuesday night and subsequently arrested along with a third teen following a melee in East Carson City earlier in the evening.

According to Sgt. Bob White of the Carson City Sheriff’s Department, a 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, who are not being identified because they are minors, were working on a vehicle about 8 p.m. in the driveway of a home in the 1300 block of Ladera Drive. They allegedly began to taunt a 16-year-old who was across the street at another home.

White said the teen across the street raced over and began hitting the 14-year-old on his body with the bat, then struck him once in the head. As the 14-year-old’s father tried to restrain the assailant, the other 16-year-old rushed over and hit the assailant in the head with a golf club. White said the golf club split the boy’s scalp open.

Both injured teens were treated at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. White said the 14-year-old suffered a lump; the 16-year-old’s wound required 40 stitches.

The 14-year-old was charged with affray, the injured 16-year-old was charged with battery with a deadly weapon, and the other teen was charged with affray and battery with a deadly weapon. White said it’s unlikely the father will be charged.

All three teens were kept overnight at the Carson City Juvenile Detention Center.
