Carson man arrested for Douglas County theft
A 19-year-old Carson City man who said he stole because he needed money for gasoline and food was jailed in Douglas County on $50,000 bail in connection with two burglaries at Target where he reportedly took video games and DVDs.
Brooks Christian Greenlee is to appear today in East Fork Justice Court.
He was arrested Sunday at the store with stolen items and also suspected of a similar crime on Oct. 24.
In a statement to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Greenlee admitted the burglaries and said he’d recently been fired from Walmart because he had a disability. He said he needed to sell the stolen games for food and gasoline.
The suspect was videotaped taking the items Oct. 24 and Oct. 26.
The loss prevention officer said she recognized Greenlee from the earlier burglary.
He used a knife to remove security tapes from the stolen items and stuck them down his pants, according to reports.
On Sunday, authorities confiscated eight Nintendo games and three Blu-ray discs that were returned to the store.
Some of the items from the Oct. 24 burglary turned up at a Carson City pawn shop.
