Carson mini market robbed by couple Sunday
The ARCO AM-PM store on the south end of Carson City was robbed early Sunday morning by a man and woman wearing ski masks and blue surgical gloves, according to authorities.
No weapon was seen during the 2 a.m. robbery, though the woman held her hand in her pocket as if she had a gun, according to witnesses. The two left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
When they entered, the man reached over the counter and ripped the phone cord out of the wall, according to store manager A.J. Goel.
Goel held up the black, plastic-coated wire in the back office at the store on Sunday and said, “I’m very glad my clerk didn’t get hurt.”
He said the clerk suspects that the woman was white, based on her accent. She did most of the talking while the man said only “hurry up.”
He was described as about 5-foot, 11-inches tall, wearing a bright blue jacket and dark pants. The woman wore a plaid jacket over a black, hooded sweatshirt.
According to witnesses, the robbers may have parked at the Wendy’s restaurant to the north then walked. A white, full-size, extra-cab truck was seen leaving the area after the robbery.
Security video footage taken during the robbery is being analyzed by Carson City Sheriff’s Department investigators.
“These kind of things demoralize not only my employees, but even the customers,” said Goel. “They think it’s not safe to come in here. It affects the whole business.”
