Carson’s Williams wins slalom title at Far West Ski Championships
The Far West Champi-onships for J4 and J5’s (racers 12 and younger) took place at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort over the weekend with Carson City resident, Natalie Williams, capping a successful season with the slalom title.
Williams with Heavenly Ski Foundation teammate, Mia Bickert, set the tone for the weekend by winning the Super G on Friday with Williams placing seventh and Michael Gardner 10th. Carson City’s Connor Novak placed 28th for the J4 boys.
On day two, Williams and Bickert both earned top five finishes. Williams posted the second fastest time of the day on the first run securing a second place finish and Bickert captured fifth.
On the final day of the races, the Heavenly group took the top two spots on the podium. Williams took the slalom title with the fastest two runs of the day posting a time of 1:29:98 with Bickert finishing second.
