Child welfare study committee meets today
Lawmakers meet today to discuss how Nevada’s child welfare systems are working.
Assemblywoman Barbara Buckley, D-Las Vegas, said the committee will discuss services offered to children who have mental problems and the caseloads of foster care workers.
The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Grant Sawyer State Office Building in Las Vegas and will be teleconferenced to the Legislative Building in Carson City.
“We are failing our children,” said Buckley. “There is no doubt we need to make substantial changes to the way we provide care to children who have been abused or abandoned.”
