Clothestime closes its doors in Carson City
The clothes are still there, but the people are gone.
Clothestime, a discount specialty retailer in South Carson City, was evicted by mall owners Pan Pacific Retail Properties
The eviction was filed in Carson City Justice Court July 11. Clothestime employees were given until July 16 to remove the merchandise, but that didn’t happen.
Clothestime’s Carson City store is in the Eagle Station Shopping Center. The company operates 400 stores in 20 states and Puerto Rico, mainly in California, Florida and Texas, according to its Web site.
The company emerged from bankruptcy in 1997, and New York-based JM Associates acquired the chain in early 2003, according to an article by The Press-Enterprise in Southern California.
Three Los Angeles-based clothes manufacturers — Ms. Bubbles Inc., Rigo International Inc. and Big Six Fashion Inc. — filed an involuntary bankruptcy petition, claiming the company owes them $700,000, the article said.
Calls to Pan Pacific and Clothestime were not returned.
