Condition of Reid’s wife upgraded after crash
RENO (AP) – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s wife continues to recover at a Virginia hospital, where she was taken after being seriously injured in a traffic accident.
Reid spokesman Jon Summers says Landra Reid’s condition was upgraded to good today, two days after a tractor-trailer rear-ended the minivan she and her daughter were riding in on an interstate highway.
Summers says the 69-year-old Mrs. Reid was taken out of Inova Fairfax Hospital’s intensive care unit after she underwent surgery Friday to stabilize her broken neck.
Summers says doctors indicate she’s “on the fast track to recovery,” but there’s no update yet on when she’ll be discharged.
Mrs. Reid also suffered a broken back and broken nose. While the injuries were serious, doctors say that Mrs. Reid is not at risk of paralysis.
