Crab feast giving a leg up to Senior Center’s lunches

Nevada Appeal Staff Report

Soup’s not only the first, but the most important, course of the lunch cooked each day at the Carson Valley Senior Center – because it’s free.

But this year the county can’t afford it, so Carson Valley Sertoma Club is stepping into the budget gap, hosting a benefit crab and tri-tip feast of its own to raise enough donations to put free soup back on the seniors’ menu all year.

From 5-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, the CVIC Hall in Minden will turn into the biggest bargain in bistros this side of San Francisco, with all-you-can eat dinners of tri-tip steak and crab, plus fixin’s. There’ll be music, with wine and beer available. The cost is $30. Tables of eight are available for $240.

Donations just for the soup budget are also accepted; $40 will buy a day’s soup course for the whole center.

For tickets (or donations) mail a check made out to Carson Valley Sertoma, 1913 Catherine Ct., Gardnerville NV 89410. Tickets (and donation receipts) will be distributed promptly by return mail, so please include your contact information. Tickets will also be sold at the Tahoe Ridge Winery, at 1644 Highway 395. Both tickets and donations are tax deductible.
