Cyclist fatally collides with Sacramento bus

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A 49-year-old bicyclist who collided with a Sacramento city bus has died about five blocks from the state Capitol.

Sacramento police say the man was pulled under the bus at about 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators were trying to determine whether the bus hit the cyclist or if he crashed into the side of the bus.

A Sacramento Police Department spokesman says there was no indication that the bus driver was negligent or driving impaired.

The bus was heading westbound along L street, which runs past the state Capitol. No passengers were injured.

The victim’s name has not been released.

A spokeswoman for the Sacramento Regional Transit District did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
