Douglas library to celebrate Pony Express
The Douglas County Public Library is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express with a special event on May 1.
At 10 a.m. National Pony Express, Nevada Division will present a lecture in the Lampe Park Pavilion. Afterward there will be a mail bag exchange demonstration in Herbig Park. Write a letter to be carried by a Pony Express rider during the program and visit the horses before they ride.
Pick up your letter immediately after the mail exchange demonstration. Younger children should be accompanied by an adult.

Secret Witness turns 40 this year – and it’s helped solve many of Northern Nevada’s most violent crimes
Secret Witness tips have played a pivotal role in solving some of the most violent crimes the greater Northern Nevada region has seen. To date, Secret Witness has paid out more than $300,000 in rewards to anonymous tipsters. Rewards range from $50 (graffiti/tagging) to $1,500 (armed robbery) to $2,500 (murder).
