Ex-NDOT worker convicted of larceny, embezzlement
A former Department of Transportation worker has been convicted of seven counts including four felonies involving the theft of an NDOT truck engine.
Floyd Finely Lynch, 39, of Sparks, was charged with stealing an engine from a 1995 crew cab truck while on a graveyard shift at NDOT’s Mount Rose Galena Station. The engine was replaced with another motor before being returned to the yard.
Officials said the replacement engine stalled out the following day, after which the switch was discovered.
Lynch was convicted of felony burglary, grand larceny, misconduct of a public officer and embezzlement. He was also convicted of three counts of gross misdemeanor conspiracy.
He will be sentenced May 4.
Lynch’s alleged accomplice was arrested by Storey County deputies last week. Derrick Burlingame, 33, Reno, will be arraigned on similar charges in the case.
