Faith & Insight: God is in control

Lt. Mark Cyr

Have you ever been ripped off? Had someone sold you something that just wasn’t true? It’s happened to all of us at one time or another. Either we buy a product thinking it’s going to do much more than it ever will, or someone makes promises and we believe them.

Do you know where we can look for true assurance and always find someone who’s going to keep their promise? Jesus is always faithful and is truly the only one we can put our hope in.

People, organizations and anything man-made are eventually going to disappoint us, and in many cases make us feel ripped off. But not Jesus.

The Bible says, “Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods,” (Psalm 40:4).

If we put our hope in the Lord and not in the people or systems of this world, we truly find a more blessed and fulfilled life. Being involved in these processes is great and important.

As Christians, often it’s suggested we should not take part, but that’s wrong. We should take part in the shaping of our world and bring our faith to the table without reservations. But remember tour hope isn’t in victory here on Earth, but in eternity.

No matter what happens, God is in control and isn’t surprised. He’s never caught unaware. Put your hope into the one who never makes mistakes and never misleads you.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows,” (Matthew 10:29-31).
