Family Storyteller workshop

Staff Reports

The Family Storyteller is a family literacy program built upon children’s literature and video tapes which model parent-child book reading.

The workshops are designed for parents and their preschool age children 3 to 5 years of age.

Parents will learn how to maximize reading with their young children.

The emphasis of this program is on demonstrating carefully selected reading techniques, such as previewing the book, reading with expression, labeling and asking questions.

Families will receive a free book each week and engage in activities together. The workshops will be offered at two locations and at different times.

Scarselli Elementary School library will host the program from 3:15-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays. The program will run Feb. 1 through March 7.
