Local community leaders will compete as they earn tips serving at FISH’s annual Have a Heart fundraiser on May 16 at Glen Eagles Restaurant & Lounge, where donations will be raised to help the hungry and homeless in the Carson City area.

The 40 celebrity waiters will use their creativity and skill as they try to earn the best tips and become this year’s champion. Singing, magic, and outlandish outfits will be the norm as Father Chuck Durante, Supervisor Karen Abowd, and Supervisor Lori Bagwell try to repeat as champions. Other local business leaders, politicians, doctors, and clergy members will be trying to unseat them.

The fundraiser features two dinner seatings at 5 and 7 p.m. with a cocktail reception at 6, as well as a drawing and a silent auction. All proceeds go to FISH’s emergency services programs, which include two homeless shelters, a free clinic, a free family dining room, and counseling services.

“You can’t help but have a good time,” said Bagwell. “You’re with 400 friends dining together to help those in need.”

Have a Heart Celebration tickets are $65 per person and $500 for a table of eight. Guests can also bid on silent auction items and purchase entry into a drawing for a VISA gift card provided by Campagni Auto Group. Tickets for the drawing are $10 each, and participants do not need to be present to win.

To buy tickets, go to one of FISH’s thrift stores in Carson City, Mound House, and Gardnerville, or buy them online at http://www.nvfish.com. Tickets can also be purchased from any celebrity waiter participating at this year’s event.
