Flash flood watch issued for region

Nevada Appeal Staff Report

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the Carson City region.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop in the area after 1 p.m. and could produce more than 1 inch of rain an hour. The watch, which includes eastern California and western Nevada, is in effect until 8 p.m.

The greatest risk for flash flooding is near creeks, small streams, canyons and drainage areas.

Forecast:

Today: Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a high near 95. West wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 64. West wind between 5 and 15 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 94. Calm wind becoming south between 5 and 10 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62. West wind between 5 and 15 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 93. West wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Clear, with a low around 53.
