Four Carson City inmates arrested on escape, drugs in jail
Three Carson City inmates were arrested Thursday after jail staff found methamphetamine in cells.
Francesca Bertolini, 35, of Walnut, Calif.; Kyra Mammen, 20, of Carson City; and Laurie Harris, 51, of Carson City were all arrested on suspicion of various drug charges.
According to reports, deputies received a tip there were drugs inside the female general pod in the detention center. They found a bag with methamphetamine on Bertolini. They were informed several of the other inmates had used the substance while in the facility. Harris was also found with meth in the pocket of her jail uniform.
Mammen told deputies Bertolini had the drugs and Mammen was helping with distributing the meth in exchange for commissary items.
Bertolini was arrested on suspicion of felony trafficking and felony conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act and bail was set at $30,000. Mammen and Harris were charged with felony conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act and bail was set at $10,000 each.
A Carson City woman was also arrested on escaping jail custody Thursday after running from a medical furlough.
The inmate was granted the furlough after jail staff determined she needed to be seen at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center on July 5.
Once cleared, the inmate was to get in contact with jail staff immediately to return to the jail.
Thursday, deputies called the hospital to check the status of the inmate and learned she had been released and left the day before, according to reports.
Deputies located her near the 1700 block of Brown Street. She told family members she had been released from custody.
She was charged with escaped prisoner and bail was set at $2,500.
