Free online forum open for recyclable business materials
Businesses have a new tool to help in recycling and lowering dump costs.
Nevada Materials Exchange is a free online forum for those looking for recycled materials and those wanting to sell or give them away.
“If the material is salvageable, something that another business can reuse, they can post it,” said spokeswoman Erin Kuo, with the Nevada Small Business Development Center, business environmental program.
A business seeking salvaged materials can also post on the Web site: http://www.nevadamax.org.
Kuo said this materials exchange program has been successfully implemented in several states, including Iowa and California.
By reducing production and disposal costs, the exchange will contribute to the economic performance of the region by extending the life of area landfills and helping to meet the 25 percent recycling goal established by the state, Kuo said.
The forum is for all salvageable waste materials, such as construction materials, paper, pallets, textiles, paint, wax, glass, plastic, containers, wood, metal, rubber, and electronics. Businesses and organizations have also listed durable goods, such as furniture, fixtures, organics, or chemical compounds.
