Fundraiser to help stroke victim
A fundraiser Saturday will benefit a former Carson City man who suffered a debilitating stroke on April 8, three days after he moved to Washington.
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue at the Carson Mall is raising money for Baylen Limasa, 45, a musician and former state worker.
From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. several bands will be on hand performing. There also will be silent and live auctions.
A 1982 graduate of Carson High, Limasa lived in Carson City for 39 years before he and his wife Valerie decided to move to Washington. The couple had just made the move when Limasa suffered a stroke. He is now paralyzed on his right side and has a speech deficit, said Valerie.
She and her daughter Alyssa, 13, returned to Carson City, but intend to reunite with Limasa once Alyssa finishes the school year.
The money raised will go toward expenses as he recovers, said Valerie.
