Gascue named to Board of Education

Staff Reports

Former Washoe School District administrator John Gascue has been named to the State Board of Education.

He was selected by Gov. Kenny Guinn to fill the vacancy created by the death of Yvonne Shaw in December.

“Dr. Gascue has 30 years’ worth of experience as a teacher and administrator in Nevada and during that time has continually demonstrated his dedication to improving the quality of education in our state,” said Guinn.

Gascue retired in 1998 as Washoe’s assistant superintendent. Before that he was senior director of secondary education and principal of Reno High and Hug High during his career.

He lives in Sparks with his wife and two children.

“I know education is one of Gov. Guinn’s top priorities and I will work hard to maintain the high integrity of the board of education,” he said.
