Gibbons refuses budget input
(AP) – A Nevada legislative panel is expressing frustration but stopped short of authorizing subpoenas to compel state agency chiefs to supply budget information.
Instead, the subpanel of the Legislature’s Interim Finance Committee agreed Wednesday to send a letter to administration officials with questions and a request for them to appear at their next meeting.
No mention was made on whether the committee would issue subpoenas if their questions aren’t answered by the end of the week.
Gibbons last week informed legislative leadership that agency heads under the administration would not participate.
The first-term Republican governor who lost last month’s primary and has six more months in office argues the Legislature’s Interim Finance Committee is unconstitutional.
