Harrah’s Reno estate selling for $75 million
RENO (AP) – A piece of Nevada gambling history is for sale.
John Harrah is selling his property in Reno for $75 million. The estate, called Rancharrah, is 150 acres with a 26,000-square-foot main house.
Bill Harrah, founder of the Harrah’s chain of hotels and casinos, once called the property home. In 1991, Bill Harrah’s son, John, bought the property from the family trust.
John Harrah planned to restore the main house to its 1934 glory, but decay forced him to tear it down. He rebuilt the current house using floor plans from the original property, adding his own touches to the design.
Rancharrah includes a nine-hole golf course, ponds, a photography studio, five smaller residences, a horse breeding and training facility and more.
