Hawaiian barbecue to raise funds for Food for Thought
The Food for Thought’s annual spring fundraiser scheduled from 4-7 p.m. May 22 at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City.
The event, Coconuts for Kids Luau at the Governor’s Mansion, will include hula dancers, Hawaiian-style barbecue, music and auction items.
Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at the Carson City Chamber on South Carson Street.
“The past few weeks, the program has provided weekend food to 700-plus children per week. The need continues to grow and we count on our fundraisers to help us buy the food we provide,” said Peter Starren, programs director.

Secret Witness tips have played a pivotal role in solving some of the most violent crimes the greater Northern Nevada region has seen. To date, Secret Witness has paid out more than $300,000 in rewards to anonymous tipsters. Rewards range from $50 (graffiti/tagging) to $1,500 (armed robbery) to $2,500 (murder).
