Health-care services offered for uninsured
March 15, 2013
Christy McGill, director of the nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey, says organizers are ready for the 2013 MORE event today and Sunday where free health care services will be offered to the uninsured in Lyon and Mineral Counties.
The Medical Outreach Response Event, is available to all ages 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.
It will be at the Silver Stage High School, 3755 West Spruce Ave., in Silver Springs.
People are encouraged to bring identification, a bill to show proof of residency, proof of income and a tax return if possible. If children need dental services and have Medicaid, parents are urged to those Medicaid cards.
Organizers said people will not be turned away without these documents, but follow-up care will be slowed.
McGill, a MORE organizer, explains why hundreds of volunteers are offering this event.

"People have been asking why we're doing this," she said. "My answer is that volunteers from all over Nevada are working at this event because every member of our rural Nevada family deserves basic healthcare. We're doing this because we can, because we should, because our neighbors and our families are valuable to this great state."
