Increase in deputies for Storey County traffic this weekend

Staff report

The Storey County Sheriff’s Office will be joining forces with the Sparks Police Department in a statewide campaign to reduce the number of impaired motorists on Nevada roadways this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The Storey County Sheriff’s Office will deploy extra patrol officers for the purpose of traffic enforcement throughout the county, said Sgt. Jason Dias.

In cooperation with programs such as “Click it or Ticket,” “Pace Yourself” and “Over the Limit Under Arrest,” deputies will be focusing on impaired motorists, seat-belt and child-restraint violations and speed enforcement.

“Please take into consideration the fatal consequence that can be prevented by simply slowing down and applying your seat belt and not driving impaired,” Dias said in a news release.

This campaign is funded by a grant through the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety.
