Since moving into a new, expansive building in May, Irwin Union Bank has used the space to grow.

The bank celebrated Monday evening with a grand-opening reception at its 1818 E. College Parkway building.

“It’s a huge difference,” said Bill Fergus, bank assistant vice president. “We had two ladies working in the hallways, and now they have their own offices. It’s a modern banking facility, and it’s laid out perfectly for the customers.”

The new bank also has two drive-up tellers and an ATM machine.

The move to the new Irwin Union Financial Center on East College Parkway gave the company 26,000 square feet more than its previous location, which was only 1,000 square feet.

“We’re proud to be the anchor tenant here in the Irwin Union Financial Center,” he said.

Irwin Union Bank had an office at 1717 E. College Parkway for six years.

Dan Powell, bank assistant vice president of marketing, said the new facility “is a more visible location. The bank is committed to growing in this area.”

The $14.3 million financial center, owned and developed by Connemara Park LLC, surrounds the Sonic drive-in on College Parkway.

The 6.5-acre parcel will contain six buildings, ranging from 3,000 square feet to 32,000 square feet.

Irwin Union Financial Corp. is listed in the New York Stock Exchange as IFC. Irwin Union Bank and Trust Co. operates locally managed banks in Indiana, Michigan, Utah and Nevada. Its sister company operates banks in Arizona, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kentucky and California.
