Public Employee Benefits Program Director Leslie Johnstone is leaving to become director of the Health Services Coalition in Las Vegas. Her last day is Jan. 15.

The PEBP board meets Wednesday to begin the process of finding her replacement.

PEBP is a private, non-profit coalition of employers, health plans and trusts in Las Vegas that contracts with local hospitals and is active in health quality and advocacy issues. It has 22 members and covers more than 300,000 people. As such it is Nevada’s largest consumer health care advocate.

She has been executive officer of PEBP since October 2006. Before that she was a fiscal analyst with the Legislative Counsel Bureau. She joined the state in 2001 as an accounting officer.

PEBP offers medical benefits to state employees, professional employees in the Nevada System of Higher Education and some local governments in Nevada through a self-funded PPO plan and an HMO.

Its executive board consists of nine members appointed by the governor. The executive officer’s pay is $123,783 annually.
