Library dedication today
ELKO – Great Basin College will host a library dedication and break ground on its Donald W. Reynolds Foundation project beginning at 4 p.m. Sept. 30. The public is invited to attend.
Vice President of Administrative Services Carl Diekhans will be the master of ceremonies for the ground breaking ceremony to launch the beginning construction of the $4.5 million project. The project will include a 50-foot clock tower, 500-seat amphitheater, a solarium that will connect the fitness center, the GBC Theatre and the community center together and will include a pristine waterway and improved walkways and vegetation.
The group will then dedicate the newly remodeled GBC library with a ceremony conducted by the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Nevada. Past Grand Master Lee Griswold will be presiding; other grand officers include Reed Mosely, Grand Trustee and James K. Byers, Worshipful Master of Elko Lodge. Griswold conducted the original cornerstone ceremony in 1973. The newly renovated library includes a reading room, a satellite downlinking facility and an electronic library instruction classroom. After the ceremonies, there will be an open house of the library until 7 p.m. which will include tours and refreshments.
