Man charged in sexual text messages with young girl

A preliminary hearing is set for next week for a school janitor from Fernley who was arrested in November for allegedly sending sexually seductive text messages to a 14-year-old girl.
Jonathan Wyly Sandidge, 22, remains in the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of felony luring a child. His bail is set at $25,000.
According to Lyon Sheriff’s Lt. Rob Hall, the girl was in class when her teacher saw that she was using her cell phone for text messages. When the teacher took the phone, a message alert came in.
“When she opened the message, she was disturbed by what she read and turned it over to the office,” said Hall.
School officials had some idea who it was from and how old he was because Sandidge had, up until the week before, been a janitor at Silver Stage Middle School where the girl attended classes, said Hall.
Investigators then responded to the text message using the girl’s cell phone and made arrangements to meet with him.
When Sandidge arrived at the meeting place on Nov. 26, he was arrested.
Hall said Sandidge was also friends with the girl’s family.
A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 16.
Sandidge remains in jail on $25,000 bail.
