A Fernley man was found guilty Wednesday by a Lyon County jury on three counts of sexual assault of a child, according to Lyon County District Attorney Bob Auer.

Joshua Lockwood, 29, faces 20 years to life in prison on each of the counts when he is sentenced Dec. 3.

“The Lyon County District Attorney’s Office listens to and understands the position of its citizens and, starting with this conviction, commits to emphasizing enforcement efforts in the field of sexually related crimes,” said Auer in a news release.

Deputy District Attorney Jeremy Reichenberg and Assistant District Attorney Mark Krueger prosecuted this case.

Lockwood molested the 8-year-old daughter of a family friend on numerous occasions between April 2004 and September 2006 in Fernley, according to the criminal complaint.

According to Lyon County Sheriff’s Detective John Mac, the girl told a friend, the friend told her own mother, and that mother called police.

Lockwood has been in custody since his warrant arrest April 12.

Auer said his office will argue that he be sentenced to the maximum.

“Lockwood should serve three consecutive life sentences for the acts he took against this child,” he said.
